New TV is just in time for the Royal occasion

Elderly clients at Lockswood Day Care Centre  had the chance to watch the Royal Wedding in style when a new flat-screen television was donated and installed in time for the big day.

And to mark the occasion staff at the centre volunteered to come in on their day off and stage an indoor street party for the clients.

Lockswood Day Care Centre clients and staff enjoy their indoor party and watching the Royal Wedding on their new TV

Normally the centre would be closed on a Bank Holiday, but with the thought that the visitors to the centre might not get the chance to celebrate the wedding with others staff decided to step in.

Care manager Shirley Taylor said the staff were happy to come in on their day off for the 20 clients – and laid on fish and chips for them for after the wedding ceremony.

And they were presented with a cheque for £500 so they could buy a brand new flat screen TV in order to watch the big occasion. The donation came from the criminal records firm ACRO at Whiteley.

“Some of their staff have come and done some voluntary work here at the centre and that was when they realised that we could do with a new TV for the people that come here,” said Shirley.

The staff planned a Royal quiz and a singalong for after the wedding – and all the visitors had button holes or head-dresses thanks to the hardwork of centre helper Pam Warnock.

“It has been a rally great day,” added Shirley.
